The President of the Republic, Her Excellency Miriam Spiteri Debono Visit
The President of the Republic, Her Excellency Miriam Spiteri Debono visited the premises of Victoria Hotspurs on 17 December 2025, in her first visit to a football club since she took office.
The President was welcomed by Hotspurs’ President Dr Anton Tabone and Club CEO Karl Zammit together with members of the Committee, players, coach and technical staff, players of the Youth Academy, players of the nursery and their parents.
Dr Tabone said that it was a great honour for Hotspurs to welcome the Head of State after visiting the Palace of San Anton last June. He also presented a donation to the Community Chest Fund. Her Excellency thanked Dr Tabone for the warm welcome, emphasizing that one ought never to forget one’s roots, proudly saying that “dan hu l-klabb tieghi”. She said that sports clubs ought to cultivate in young children the necessary civic spirit so that they grow up to be good citizens, aware of their rights and duties, and always respectful of others.
