Two Goals in Each Half Enough for Hotspurs in the Malta FA Jubilee Cup
Malta FA Jubilee Cup
Victoria Hotspurs F.C. 4 – 0 Siggiewi F.C.
Scorers: Kurt Borg 39′, Emmanuel Mbong 41′, Rondinely Roberto Monteiro 55′, 90′

Last Sunday night at the Sirens Stadium, Victoria Hotspurs got their season running smoothly with a 4-0 win over Siggiewi, who play one division lower than the Gozitans. Siggiewi played an excellent first half, frustrating their more quoted opponents on several occasions but ran out of energy after the break.

Siggiewi did well to keep the Hotspurs at bay in the opening phase, with John-Paul Delia even coming close to the opener with an angled shot from the edge of the area that just missed target on 20 minutes. The Gozitans clearly had a hard time to deal with the team of coach Simon Agius, who literally battled for every ball.

But on 39 minutes, Siggiewi were out-paced when Emmanuel Mbong was served on the left wing, perfectly crossing to Kurt Borg who beat Leon Seisun from close range. Two minutes later, the Hotspurs doubled through Mbong in a similar attack, this time served by Gianluca Muscat (ex-Nadur) from the right.

Ten minutes after the re-start, Brazilian forward Rondinely scored the third for the Hotspurs, a goal which took out the pace of the match with the Hotspurs reducing a gear and Siggiewi unable to fight back into the match. Towards the very end of the game, Rondinely found the net for a second time, settling for a final 4-0 score.
