Reggina 1914 had to come from behind to beat Victoria Hotspurs
During the pre-season training camp in Gambarie, Italy, Victoria Hotspurs had the opportunity to play a friendly match against former Serie A club, Reggina 1914, narrowly losing 2-1 in a well-contested encounter. This match was held at the Italico Mountain Village Ground in Cuccularo, Gambarie.

Before the match, club President, Dr Anton Tabone and Reggina 1914 representative had the opportunity to exchange both club’s official kits.

Coach, Oliver Spiteri had in his disposal a squad of 30 players including this summer new signings such as Chris Mercieca, goalkeepers Steve Sultana and Kyle Barbara, Karl Micallef, Gianluca Muscat and Colombians, Angel Bonilla and Arenas Ortiz.

As expected, Reggina 1914 were the better side but the Hotspurs defended very well and managed to open the score in the 58th minute through Shaun Attard. However, Reggina 1914 kept pushing and levelled the score in the 62 minute through Antonino Ragusa. Domenico Girasole made it two in the 84 minute to end the match 2-1 for Reggina 1914.

The match served as a positive start and a valuable experience for all our players, who now shift their focus on the VisitGozo Cup against Gozo First Division Champions, Qala Saints before the start of the Amateur League I championship.
