Hotspurs get back to winning ways

GFA BOV Gozo Football League Division I (MD 10) – Sat 22 Jan 2022 – Gozo Stadium
Victoria Hotspurs FC – FT (1-0) – SK Victoria Wanderers
Referee: Alex Johnson
52’ (1-0) penalty Robinson Blandon Rendon

Victoria Hotspurs registered their third win in the championship from a 1-0 win over SK Victoria Wanderers. The Hotspurs also registered the double in the derby against the Wanderers and with the points obtained they reached a mid-table position and moved away from the risk of the relegation zone. With this result the Wanderers remain at the bottom of the table and lost an opportunity to re-open their chances to move to saver places on the table.

The Hotspurs saw more of the ball during the first part of the first half but suffered the reaction of their opponents in the second part of the first half so that play became more balanced. The Hotspurs clinched the win form a penalty converted during the opening stages of the second period and managed to control the reaction by the Wanderers despite playing the last half hour with a player less on the field.
