Hotspurs Advance to Next Round in the Amateur National Cup

In a clash between two Amateur League II sides, Victoria Hotspurs defeated Mqabba to keep their 100% record in MFA competitions this season. It was an encounter between perhaps the two best teams in the fourth tier of the Maltese football pyramid, with the Gozitans deciding the match already before the break.

Two defenders scored both goals, as Dejan Bogdanovic broke the deadlock on six minutes while in stoppage time of the opening period, former Malta international Ferdinando Apap added his side’s second goal. Mqabba did try to get back into the match in the second half but bumped onto the steady Hotspurs defence who gave very little away. Emmanuel Mbong wasted two good chances and also Wellington came close but failed to find the net. On 65 minutes, Nicolai Farrugia-Cross received his second caution of the match and thus his marching orders, one of the very few expulsions in the opening round of the 2024/25 Amateur Cup.
